DIY King Farmhouse Bed Frame Plans: A Step-by-Step Guide

3. Assemble the side rails.
1. Lay two 2x4s (6 feet) parallel to each other, spaced 54 inches apart (the width of a king-size mattress). 2. Attach the 1x12s to the 2x4s using wood screws, spacing them evenly apart.
4. Assemble the bed frame.
1. Place the side rails on the floor, parallel to each other and spaced 76 inches apart (the length of a king-size mattress). 2. Attach the headboard and footboard to the side rails using wood screws.
5. Install the bed rails.
1. Place the metal bed rails on the inside of the bed frame, spaced evenly apart. 2. Secure the bed rails to the bed frame using wood screws.
6. Finish the bed frame.
1. Sand the bed frame to smooth out any rough edges. 2. Fill any holes or gaps with wood filler. 3. Stain or paint the bed frame to your desired color. 4. Apply polyurethane to protect the finish.
