How Long Is Army Officer Candidate School?

For Candidates with No Prior Military Experience

Candidates with no prior military experience will attend a 12-week OCS program. This program provides a comprehensive foundation in Army leadership, tactics, and military skills. Candidates will undergo physical training, weapons qualification, land navigation, and tactical decision-making exercises.

For Candidates with Prior Enlisted Experience

Candidates with prior enlisted experience may be eligible for a shortened OCS program. The length of this program will vary depending on the candidate's rank and time in service. Typically, enlisted candidates with one year or less of active-duty experience will attend a 6-week OCS program, while those with more than one year but less than four years of experience will attend a 9-week program.
