How To Make Swing Arm Curtain Rod Holder

Materials:

1 piece of 1/2-inch diameter metal rod, 12 inches long
2 pieces of 1/4-inch diameter metal rod, 6 inches long
2 pieces of 1/8-inch diameter metal rod, 3 inches long
1 piece of 1/16-inch diameter metal rod, 1 inch long
2 pieces of 1/8-inch thick metal plate, 2 inches square
4 screws, 1/2-inch long
2 nuts, 1/2-inch
2 washers, 1/2-inch

Instructions:

1. Cut the 1/2-inch diameter metal rod to 12 inches long. This will be the main support for the swing arm.

2. Cut the two 1/4-inch diameter metal rods to 6 inches long. These will be the arms of the swing arm.

3. Cut the two 1/8-inch diameter metal rods to 3 inches long. These will be the supports for the curtain rod.

4. Cut the 1/16-inch diameter metal rod to 1 inch long. This will be the pin that holds the curtain rod in place.

5. Drill a 1/2-inch hole in the center of each of the metal plates. These holes will be used to mount the swing arm to the wall.

6. Drill a 1/4-inch hole in the center of each of the arms, 1 inch from the end. These holes will be used to attach the arms to the main support.

7. Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the center of each of the supports, 1 inch from the end. These holes will be used to attach the supports to the arms.

8. File the ends of the metal rods to remove any sharp edges.

9. Assemble the swing arm by inserting the arms into the holes in the main support and the supports into the holes in the arms. Secure the joints with epoxy.

10. Insert the pin into the hole in the main support. This will hold the curtain rod in place.

11. Mount the swing arm to the wall by screwing the metal plates into the wall. Be sure to use washers to protect the wall from damage.
